With more than 60 years of experience, SÃO MARCO INDÚSTRIA E COMÉRCIO LTDA is the second most important magneto wire manufacturer in Brazil, as well as producing electro-insulating varnishes, resins and lubricants. We are noted as one of the most important company in the industry, both for its sales volume and for its quality, reliability and service..
Our History
The company began with specialized professionals, such as administrators, engineers, chemists and technicians, as well as efficient equipment and continuous productive expansion.
The whole effort of creativity and development has been and continues to be a genuine national achievement.
On the Catherine’s initiative, this small patrimony was used to establish “Eletro SÃO MARCO Ltda.” On January 25, 1946, with Catherine Verrone Raso, the widow, and her first partners, Angelo Costabile and Hugo Raso, her sons, and Carmine Verrone, her brother-in-law.
After the foundation, the company’s board of directors was formed by the first founders’ sons, and became specialized in the production of enameled wires for windings, as well as wires lined with fibrous materials.
São Marco Indústria e Comércio Ltda., founded in 1946 as “Eletro São Marco Ltda.” began its industrial activities in the production of enameled copper wires for windings and some types of wires lined with fibrous materials, occupying at that time, a small area at number 720, Serra de Jairé Street, São Paulo, SP.
Through the improvement of its products and industrial-technical development, the company entered into a clear evolution.
Still in São Paulo, in 1953, with the intention of becoming independent in relation to the manufacture of its products, São Marco’s managers founded “Industria Química São Marco Ltda.” which, with the collaboration of the chemical engineer Duarte Ventura Dias, developed his own wire enamel, becoming independent of a few enamel manufacturers.
Over the years, this new company branched out its production and started to produce also insulating varnishes, adhesives and paints, and in 1957 it was transferred to the city of Extrema, Minas Gerais State (MG).
In 1971, Eletro São Marco acquires another unit in Três Corações-MG, the so-called IMSA, Indústria Metalúrgica Sul Americana S/A, an Argentine industry that was fully nationalized in order to server the production needs of the group, then named São Marco Minas S/A Electrical Conductors.
As is often the case in pioneer enterprises, the difficulties that have had to be overcome weren’t few, both in relation to the gradual and technical improvement of their products and the capital needed to develop the company.
In 1996, São Marco is incorporated by the Mexican group, AXA, currently denominated Xignux. In 1997 the plants of São Paulo and Extrema are transferred to the city of Três Corações-MG forming a single industrial complex.
Due to the combined effort of its directors, departments and employees, industrial and technical development has not ceased to evolve, and today, it is with natural satisfaction that it can present itself to the consumer market in Brazil on equal terms, with regard to technical improvement with the most competent international producers.
As a result of this effort, the pioneer, Eletro São Marco Ltda., presents today a harmoniously complemented industrial grouping that makes possible not only the maintenance of its privileged place in the industrial park of the country, but also aims at a continuous development with the eyes facing the future.
San Marco produces electrolytic copper and aluminum rebar and enamelled magnet wires of all types, insulating varnishes, resins, enamels and lubricants for wires and specialties related to the branch. And for a better performance of its activities, the company seeks to direct the general effort in the specialized production of enamelled magnet wires of all categories, continuously evolving, not only in the numerical expression of the expansion of its business, but also in the technical improvement of its production.
We have specialized professionals, among them administrators, engineers, chemists and technicians, as well as efficient equipment and continuous productive expansion.
The whole effort of creativity and development has been until today a genuine national achievement.
